Ingredients
Cookies
- 1 cup softened butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3 cups flour
Icing
- 2 boxes or 9 cups powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons light corn syrup
- 2/3 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- Food coloring as desired
Instructions
Preheat oven
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Cream butter and sugar
Cream butter and sugar until smooth, add egg and vanilla and mix well.
Mix dry ingredients
Mix the baking powder with flour. Add 1 cup of flour at a time to butter mixture and beat til mixed.
Roll and cut dough
Divide dough in half. Working on floured surface roll dough out to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into shapes.
Bake
Bake for 12 minutes. Cool before icing.
Make icing
Mix all icing ingredients together. Add food coloring as desired. If consistency is not right, add water.
Decorate
You should be able to dip the top of the cookie into frosting and set on wire rack to dry.
Notes
Makes 2 Dozen
Yield: This recipe is enough for 2 dozen cookies.
Baking Time: Bake for approximately 12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
Icing Consistency: The icing should be thin enough to dip cookies into. Adjust with water if needed.
